Participation in the Early Retirement Scheme in 2026

The Early Retirement Scheme (RVU) has been extended by one year until 1 January 2027. The employees and employers in our sector have agreed to this. The RVU is for people who want to stop working earlier because their work is becoming too strenuous. You can find all information about the RVU, including the conditions, at rvumetalektro.nl (in Dutch).

Your pension in 2026

A number of things will change for your pension in 2026. The maximum salary on which you accrue pension in the basic pension scheme will be 100,731 euros in 2026 (this was 95,236 euros in 2025). And the part of your salary on which you cannot accrue any pension (the deductible) will increase to 19,172 euros (this was 18,475 euros in 2025).

Results of investment survey

What do you actually think of the way PME invests? We have looked into this. Many people indicated that a good balance between social contribution and investment return is important, both now and in the long term. PME must keep away from investing in gambling, fur and tobacco. A growing number of people are positive about investing in defence.

Factor A: easily found!

If you have an annuity insurance policy or a bank savings arrangement for your pension, you will need Factor A for your tax return. Factor A indicates how much pension you have accrued in one calendar year. For the 2025 tax return, use Factor A from 2024. You can find it on the Uniform Pension Statement (UPS) for 2025. Log into the website and go to Documents.

PME’s financial health has improved

Our coverage ratio increased in the fourth quarter of 2025. The coverage ratio indicates whether we have enough cash to pay every pension, now and in the future. The coverage ratio is also important when switching to the new rules, because it determines whether we can give something extra at that time and if so, how much.
